Finding hope in 3 simple steps offers a fresh perspective and some courage not to give up. Soon to follow is a clearer vision and greater confidence to act. It reminds me of my sunglasses.
Admittedly, I have a problem with sunglasses. I have to wear them every time I go outside or I end up with a terrible headache from the light. Considering how heavily I rely on these sunglasses, you’d think I’d be able to keep track of them better. Wrong! I am terrible at taking care of them and before you know it, I am walking around looking through scratched, smudged and damaged lenses that blur my vision. I walk about in frustration because I have not yet made the safe keeping of my sunglasses a higher priority.
Recently I pulled out a brand new pair of sunglasses. Everything was clear with nothing to obstruct my vision. I can honestly say that as I looked out into the day, I felt better and more optimistic. It was wonderful!
The same is true in life. It’s easy to get stuck in a rut. Every obstacle, difficulty, or unexpected event becomes an irritant and stands as proof that joy and happiness lie just beyond reach.
Perhaps the house is a mess and the feeling of overwhelm just won’t subside. Maybe there’s not enough money for that dream vacation you’ve been saving for, or the strain of living paycheck to paycheck is just too much. Are you in the middle of a life challenge that is testing your limits and nearly breaking your heart?
There was a time in our family when I thought all hope was lost. I was grasping for something that would change the situation and bring relief, but couldn’t find it. Everywhere I turned, I found evidence that pushed me further and further away from hope. I felt alone, unable to express my feelings, and afraid. I was most afraid because I didn’t know how things were going to turn out, and I didn’t feel strong enough to handle much more.
During this time I learned 3 simple things that shifted my perspective and allowed me to find hope again. These steps opened my heart just enough to keep trying.
